Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day a Success!

More than 20,000 cyclists showed their commitment to alternative transportation at Bike to Work Day 2012 on June 27. With more three times as many BTWD stations, Transportation Solutions collected signatures of more than 1,000 participants interested in supporting alternative transportation options.

This year, Transportation Solutions expanded from just 3 to nine BTWD stations (Civic Center Park, Cherry Creek Whole Foods, Washington Park Whole Foods, Glendale, Aurora, University of Denver, Lowry Albertsons, Primal Wear (Cherry Creek Trail), 9 News) to accommodate the 17,905 pre-registered participants with DRCOG.

We welcomed the great turnout (an estimated 4-5,000 participants after pre-registration) with free information like bike maps, bike safety cards and alternative transportation-themed prizes like sunscreen and water bottles. With your help, we were able to spread the word about the benefits of alternative transportation like biking.

Bike to Work Day is a great way to open minds to alternative transportation, whether you are an avid recreational bicyclist or just a beginner. Thanks to all who participated.

If you missed BTWD 2012, you can find many transportation events on our calendar, or consider organizing your own bike-to-work-day with coworkers at the water cooler. Walk and Bike to School Day is Oct. 3, so mark your calendars and be on the lookout for Transportation Solutions en route.
