The DU Commute Club encourages full-time faculty and staff to use alternative transportation to commute to work at least one day a week. This includes using carpools, vanpools, riding the bus and light rail, biking, or walking to work. Traffic congestion in and around campus and air pollution can be reduced when fewer people drive to work alone.
All it takes to do your part is a pledge to use alternative transportation one day a week. At the end of the month, you report your modes of transportation and you’re entered into drawings for great prizes. Of course, your help is encouraged in the growth of the club— prizes will be awarded to members who refer co-workers to the club. You can sign up using the online pledge form.
Q: I'm new to the Commute Club, how do I report my commuting totals?
A: At the beginning of each month you'll receive a reminder email to report your commuting totals. The reminder will include a link to this page. Click on the month you are reporting for and enter the number of days you drove you car alone, the number of days you took the bus, biked, carpooled, etc… you get the idea.
Q: How do I report days when I work from home?
A: Anytime you work from home instead of going to the office is considered a teleworking day.
Q: Do I report a vacation day or holiday as a day I didn't drive to work?
A: No.
Q: What if I worked my normal amount of hours in four days instead of five days?
A: Then, you can give yourself a "compressed work week" day - even if you drove those four days.
Q: Sometimes my spouse and I carpool to the bus stop and then I take the bus to DU - do I count those days as a carpooling day or a transit day?
A: It's your choice - just don't mark both!
