2006 Successes

The Cherry Creek Bike Rack

  • Continued operation and promotion of Colorado's first indoor bike parking facility
  • Hosted Commuter Challenge events to encourage cyclists to bike to and through Cherry Creek

Bike to Work Day

  • Welcomed commuting cyclists to one of the area's largest and most successful breakfast stations - the Bike Rack's Breakfast Station Block Party

University of Denver

  • Expanded student pass program to include graduate students and increased Eco Pass participation for faculty and staff
  • Awarded the 2006 International Award for Outstanding Service by the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT)
  • Worked with RTD to officially name the University of Denver Light Rail Station

Colorado Center

  • Promoted the grand opening of Colorado Station and Southeast Light Rail
  • Offered discounted transit passes to tenant employees

The Road Ahead

  • Hosted the second annual event, featuring innovations in intra-urban connectivity and streetcars
  • Attracted nearly 150 attendees

Cherry Creek Shopping Center

  • Developed and implemented the 20 Days // 20 Ways program - a campaign to encourage shopping center employees to leave their cars at home for the 20 busiest shopping days before Christmas. Almost 500 employees took the campaign pledge, representing an estimated $10 million in potential sales.

Southeast Light Rail

  • Hosted 5,000 area residents at Grand Opening Station Celebrations at two of the new Southeast Light Rail stations in November 2006.
  • Worked with RTD and the City of Denver to ensure adequate pedestrian, bike and transit connections to stations.

Partnerships

  • Collected nearly 100 bicycles for children in need through the Share a Cycle program with Campus Cycles. 
  • Partnered with five other organizations to rebrand and market the 83L transit route.
  • Formed the Transportation Solutions Community Council, a coalition of representatives from the neighborhoods in our service area.

In the Community

  • Spearheaded development of a mission statement among neighborhood and civic groups in support of multi-modal opportunities for Denver citizens.
  • Promoted alternative transportation options at numerous community fairs.
